Citrine is a member of the quartz family, ranging from soft pale yellow to deep orange. The more saturated colors are less common and also more desirable, so they command higher prices. The rich, orangy colored gems are named after the Madeira mine in Brazil, although not all Madeira citrine comes from that mine.
It's a bright, sunny stone and sure to brighten your mood any time of the year.
If you have multiple piercings, consider a suite of citrine earrings ranging from soft yellow to golden yellow to Madeira. Golden yellow looks good with amethyst, or for a tropical look combine turquoise, red carnelian, and golden yellow citrine. Soft yellow combines well with other light colors like Brazilian amethyst and sky blue topaz.
Citrine is traditionally heated to enhance its color, and while not all citrine is heated it is best to assume it has been. As a nearly universal treatment, it has no negative impact on the value of the gems. Our citrine is genuine, mined material, not lab grown.
