CUSTOM ENGAGEMENT RING OR WEDDING BAND PROTOYPE + DEPOSIT

Would you like a "brass and glass" non-precious prototype of your ring before finalizing the design? This is the listing for you. 

This purchase includes:

1. One prototype made of non-precious metal and stones. Prototypes are usually one single color (not two-tone) and in designs with many accent gems, those areas will be left un-set to reduce labor costs. Prototypes are set with CZ or other imitation gems which may not reflect the color of the actual gems intended for the real ring. It does not grant you copyright, reproduction rights, exclusivity, or other intellectual property rights over the eventual design, which remains the property of Distinction Jewelry. You are, however, free to retain the prototype that we produce for you. 

2. A $500 non-refundable deposit towards the purchase of a custom ring from Distinction Jewelry. Prototypes represent a significant investment of time and effort on our part, for which we undercharge significantly. Prototypes are not available without this nonrefundable deposit which will cover that investment on our part should you elect not to purchase a real ring following prototyping. 

Once you purchase this listing, production will begin on your prototype. We are assuming at this point that you have been in email contact with us about a design; if not, please email us about which design you would like a prototype for, and in what ring size. Production of the prototype generally takes 3-6 weeks, with rare production delays several weeks beyond that.

Please note that production will not start on your real ring until you receive the prototype, approve, and purchase the real ring; please do not choose a prototype option if you have a deadline approaching. 

What happens next?

If you like the prototype and want to proceed with that design: Your $500 deposit will be applied towards your purchase of the real ring — congratulations! 

If you like the overall design but would like some modification: We will work with you to modify the design so that it's perfect for you, and give you renders of the modified design. Once it's perfect, you'll be able to purchase it, with your $500 subtracted from the total, of course.

If there is something about the prototype that makes you decide you don’t want that design: We can apply the deposit to another ring.

Please bear in mind that this is a non-refundable custom order and deposit. It's intended for those who are serious about making a ring purchase and want to make sure the look and feel is right on your hand before committing to the final design.
