GEMSTONE INFORMATION
My specialty as a jeweler is working with colored gems, the trade term for anything which is not a diamond. The world of colored gems is far more diverse and complicated than that of the diamond trade, and fewer jewelers are willing to take the time to learn the ins and outs of colored gems. It is a constant learning process; colored stones are rarer, more difficult to source, and trickier to set and identify than diamonds....yet so much more affordable!
I only use genuine, real gems (unless specifically requested otherwise by a customer). You will not find lab grown, created, or otherwise manmade gems in my jewelry. I also avoid treatments such as coating and dying which enhance the appearance of a gemstone but degrade over time. I always strive to identify and fully disclose all treatments that a gem has been subjected to (common treatments include heating and irradiating stones) even in cases where such disclosure is not required by the FTC.
I choose my suppliers carefully and buy for quality and value as well as ethical treatment of workers who mine and cut the gems.
Custom ordering a gemstone
I have contacts in the gem industry throughout the world, from independent cutters to major gem houses. If you are looking for a rare or unusual stone or want something custom cut, I can probably procure it for you. While diamonds are not my specialty, I also have accounts with several major diamond wholesalers and can easily order you Kimberly Process compliant diamonds in any grade. Just a tiny handful of the dealers I work with:
