A beautiful golden and blue labradorite gemstone is accented by a tiny,
sparkly white diamond in this completely handmade one of a kind
pendant.
Eco-friendly in recycled silver, even the diamond was
salvaged from a piece of old gold jewelry sent to me for recycling. The
only newly mined component is the labradorite gemstone, which was cut
by a family business.
Labradorite: 20.5mm x 22 mm (just under an inch). 18 1/2 carats.
Diamond: 2mm, white, .03 carat

High
quality labradorite with glowing golden and blue "flash" or "fire."
Labradorite is a mineral relative of moonstone (the feldspars), and
displays a similar directional flash of color in a base of brownish
gray.
Eskimo lore holds that the Northern Lights were once
trapped in the rocks off the coast of Labrador, but were set free into
the air by one of their ancestors - some of the lights, however,
remained trapped in the stone which we now call Labradorite.
What
makes this gemstone special is the directional flashes of brilliant
color, similar to moonstone but more intense. In some lighting and at
some angles the flash cannot be seen, while in others it lights up like
a spotlight.
High quality labradorite has more intense flash
distributed over more of the stone than lower quality. This stone is
excellent! Really nice flash, I was lucky to get my hands on it. If you
love moonstone, opal, sunstone, or any other gem with internal fire you
will adore labradorite.
