I’ll admit it – I’m still in the denial stage of grief over the cancellation of one of my very favorite television shows, Stargate Atlantis. Not only that, but the promises of “You’ll get a new show to replace it with,” and “We’ll make a movie,” sound a little too much like “Don’t worry, Timmy, we’ll get you a new puppy and he’ll be just as nice as the old one I just backed over with my truck.”
To which I respond with a pout and a sniff: “But will it have Shep in it protecting his team and looking really good in tight black t-shirts? And will it have Carson with his compassion and his gentle Scottish accent? Will it have Rodney making sure we know he just saved a universe or two and ensuring that we don’t stick citrus in his lunchbox? How about Ronon, to hug people and hit them with really big sticks?”
No. It won’t. Well, okay, maybe a cameo every so often, but it’s not the same, k?
So what did I do today? I made puddlejumpers. Cute little puddlejumpers hand-sawn from sterling silver and waiting for me to turn them into pendants. *sniff* The puddlejumper. I’ll miss the freakin’ puddlejumper!
I made a really cool pendant that has a battered universe – scape on the front, beat to heck and embellished with a dark London blue topaz and a splatter of 14K gold. It has one of my favorite John Sheppard quotes, “I would do anything, for any one of you,” hand-enscribed on the back, and it looks like something an exploration team would dig up in a ruin.
And finally, an awesome ring in a Stargate-inspired design. It’s a rough (inspired by, not a replica of) approximation of the stargate itself, with a rugged silver dial and a blue topaz event horizon. I actually like the design of this one so much that I’m going to make others like it using different stones, for non-fans. It’s just a really cool-looking ring.
So – I got to invest myself in my love for the show for the day. But I still want my first puppy back.
Oh, bummer. That’s one of my favorite shows too. I didn’t know they were going to cancel it. Just when it was getting good. Last weeks episode was really great. Rats, there just aren’t very many good show anymore and when you find a good one, it gets canceled.
I know! It’s so sad. I got hooked on stargate sg1 by my uncle (after it was canceled), and then I happened to see an atlantis episode and fell in love! Did you see the atlantis series finale? I love everything about atlantis, especially people like shep. mckay and CARSON!!!! I love his accent! A-hem. Sorry, didn’t mean to gush, there. I have a question about one of your pieces of jewelry (stargate jewelry, of course). The “Snap, That’s it!” McKay pendant… It’s out of stock, but I’ve been checking up every few days for the past few weeks, and have not seen anymore. Are you out and never going to make more? because I really love that piece and would love to get it. do I have to custom-order it? Thanks. Becca

Stargate is probably the best science fiction series after Firefly. Nice visual effects too.’.’
Stargate SG1 is much better than Stargate the movie. the series has lots of action and adventure.`.-
im in love with stargate. I have a close friend at work that used to be a MP at the actual cheyenne mountain base. He would catch morons attempting to sneak in to find the stargate all the time. crazy.
