Amber cabochon stud earrings in gold or silver.
Amber is fossilized tree resin - and while ours don't contain dinosaur DNA, they are still small pieces of ancient history. You're wearing something that's been around for more than 100 million years!
Some of the most extraordinary fossils ever discovered have been found preserved in amber.
The Amber Room in Russia, a room with walls and decorations of carved amber built in 1701, was dubbed the eighth wonder of the world before it was looted by the Nazis in WWII and was never recovered. It contained six tons of amber and other semi-precious stones. Amber wall panels were backed in gold leaf. Over the course of 25 years, a recreation of the Amber Room was built near Saint Petersburg.
The TV show White Collar had a plot line that ran an entire season involving an intricate amber music box stolen from the Amber Room.
Amber varies in appearance; some earrings may be a completely "clean" amber, while others will contain flecks that twinkle in the light or even small bits of fossilized plant material.
