Description

Platinum Padparadscha sapphire necklace or pendant set in solid platinum right here in our rural Oregon studio! Fiery pinkish orange lab-created 6mm round (roughly 1.1 carat) sapphire is perfect for everyday wear. Invest in ethical fine jewelry that is beautiful, high quality, and will stand the test of time. Optional chain is a 1mm cable chain in solid 14k gold, platinum, or silver with a lobster-claw clasp (subject to minor changes due to availability). We pick the finest gems from our stock for setting in platinum.

These gems’ colors vary slightly in hue and saturation, and are difficult to photograph accurately. The camera likes to register them as redder/pink, while "fiery pinkish orange" is more accurate. They can be shapeshifters in real life too, appearing to be slightly different colors in different lighting. Some are more orange, others pinker. Smaller sizes tend to have slightly less vivid color and more variation in hue. Larger sizes have a bold punch of intense color with far subtler variations.  We like to put more orange shades in yellow gold, pinker in rose, the absolute middle ones in platinum, and any shade in white gold.

Pink-Orange Padparadscha sapphires

Padparadscha sapphires are the rarest and most coveted color of an already precious stone, selling for as much as $30,00 per carat. An ethereal color on the cusp between pink and orange, they are renowned for their similarity to the colors of the lotus flower. We are excited to offer a limited quantity of these lab created Padparadscha sapphires at a far more attainable cost.

While many sapphires are marketed under the name Padparadscha, including orange, pink, and brownish ones, these are true orange-pink Padparadscha color, which is far more difficult to obtain. Padparadscha sapphires are prized not only for their color, but for their symbolism. Padparadscha (pad · pah · raj · a) is a Sinhalese word which roughly translates to “lotus blossom”.

The lotus, also known as the flower of life, is the national flower of India. It holds sacred meaning in Buddhism and Hinduism, representing awakening, faithfulness, love, and compassion. In ancient Egypt, the lotus was associated with rebirth and the sun. In Japan, lotus flowers represent purity. Metaphysically, Padparadscha sapphires are associated with freeing creativity, inner clarity, self-confidence, discernment, fertility, and improved relationships. Regardless of other associations, the bottom line is that these gems are exquisitely beautiful.

Even the lab created variant of these exquisite gems is rare and difficult to obtain. These are real sapphires, with a composition identical to those mined from the earth; the crystals were grown under laboratory conditions simulating their formation in nature and then custom cut to perfection just for us. These Swiss-grown gems are of the highest quality and free from the environmental and exploitation concerns that sometimes arise with naturally mined gems. A stunning example of a rare and coveted gemstone worthy of any fine jewelry collection.

Recycled Precious Metal with Ethically Sourced Gems

Our gems are ethically sourced with care and knowledge. They are real, come from small businesses, and support small miners and families around the globe. Rather than support destructive mining practices, we use reclaimed precious metals. They are melted down and refined to produce settings identical in quality and purity to newly mined metals without the environmental and human impact.

Gems are individual pieces of nature's art and have minor variation in pattern, color, size, and shape. Unlike synthetic gems, few are exactly alike. Exact size may vary +/- .20mm. When choosing a size, remember that the pictures are magnified close-ups.
