Tsavorite garnet earrings in sterling silver, set with raw, uncut gems fresh out of the packet from Africa. Each pair is unique, so please expect variations from the photos. Tsavorite garnets are prized for their vivid emerald green color and durability, and prices have skyrocketed as demand has increased for these beautiful gems which are found in only one place in the world: Tsavo, Kenya. Home to much more than just the man-eating lions from the movie The Ghost and the Darkness, this beautiful land is filled with wildlife and its earth sometimes yields these precious green stones.

This is a test of a joint venture with a friend in Kenya who gets these directly from the mines, and a special introductory price. I am helping sell them in the US and international jewelry market so that they can get paid more for their stones; when you buy these I get half the proceeds and they get the other half. You will find these rough gemstones far more affordable than faceted Tsavorites of this size.

The Gemstones

Our gems are ethically sourced with care and knowledge. They are real, come from small businesses, and support small miners and families around the globe.

Gems are individual pieces of nature's art and have minor variation in pattern, color, size, and shape. Unlike synthetic gems, few are exactly alike.

Reclaimed Precious Metal Settings

Rather than support destructive mining practices, we use reclaimed precious metals. They are melted down and refined to produce settings identical in quality and purity to newly mined metals without the environmental and human impact. Custom orders available for rose gold, 18k gold, and palladium.

Size it up

These are untreated, and are very roughly 5mm across. Measurements are hard when the stones are this irregular, so I'm going by the size of stone the setting is designed to hold normally. Please take a look at the modeled photo for a vague idea of how big they are in "real life". 5mm is about the size of a 1/2 carat diamond. When choosing a size, remember that the pictures are magnified close-ups - check the size on a ruler.

These are handmade to order in my small US studio, and on occasion we need to special order gems and/or metals to complete your order. Depending on stock on hand and current work load, it may take 1-4 weeks to ship your order. The average is 1-2 weeks.
